Islamic Manners

Islamic Manners, or Akhlaaq, hold a central place in Islam and are considered one of the defining qualities of a true believer. Every Muslim is encouraged to adorn themselves with the noble character exemplified by our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and his blessed companions. The Prophet ﷺ was the embodiment of the highest moral conduct, making good manners not only a personal virtue but also a hallmark of faith. As Sayyidna Anas ibn Malik (RA) beautifully described:
“Allah’s Messenger ﷺ had the best manners among all of mankind” (Bukhari 6420, Muslim 2309).

Importance of Islamic Manners

Islamic Manners have been practically demontsrated to us by Rasulullah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) and have been recorded through numerous hadeeth on the subject.  It is sad though that many Muslims do not pay attenttion to the Islamic Manners they should be adopting and instead restrict their view of religion merely to Ibadat (external acts of worship).  Below we share some articles that talk about the right manner to be adopted by a Muslim in certain situations taken from the book written by Shaykh Abdul-Fattaah Abu Ghuddah (RA).  May Allah almighty give us all the ability to practise upon the Sunnah and teachings of Rasulallah (صلى الله عليه وسلم).

The following book is also an excellent read and includes many ahadith on the subject of manners relating to personal conduct and Islamic Manners.

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) told us that, “I was only sent to perfect noble character.” [Muwatta’ and Musnad of Ahmad]

He also said (peace and blessings be upon him), “The best of you are those best in character.” [Bukhari]
