Syukran Lillah Ta'alaa for this beautiful article. I am just in middle school but this words could be practiced in my school. From where i come from, the above western trends mentioned are widely practiced, even in an Islamic School.
This is what make me so sad...,seeing Muslims learning Islam but still dating each other wearing clothes so tight, talking freely to opposite gender about sex and other inappropriate things...kissing publicly, shouting vulgarities in public... and the list goes on and on and on...
May Allah the merciful have mercy on us and show us to the right path and shower us with his blessings...
Ameen

Asslaamoalaikum. I am a senior citizen and a professional. The life in university in our days and in India was different. I have seen the students joining the university, first day rush and orientation tours in USA 3years back. I agree with the advice and ideas given in the article except one relating to Dawah.
In my view the concept of Dawah is not projected correctly. One should not think of Dawah unless one is trained for it and possess substatantial knowledge and the capacity for reference from authentic source in cae of the query for which you do no have answer. If I remember correctly one verse of quran says-there shall a group who shall call the people to the good things and guide them to the straight path" There is no need for everyone and sundry to do the Dawah.
Allah knows the best.
